FPH Begins 2023 with ‘Project Renewal’

This week, Faith Presbyterian Hospice launched ‘Project Renewal’, a year-round program focused on recharging and invigorating teammates and Presbyterian Village North (PVN) residents, thanks to funding through generous donors to the Forefront Living Foundation.

The inaugural program sessions featured renowned writer, teacher, editor and coach, Carol Henderson, who led different groups through 90-minute writing workshops. Each of the seven sessions, offered throughout the week, were designed to help participants gain resilience by looking inward to process work and life-related stress through prompt-led writing.

On January 25, twelve PVN residents gathered in a campus classroom to partake in the benefits of inward reflection and restorative writing. The group was led through a series of more than 15 prompts with several minutes to write and expand upon each topic. Throughout the class, participants shared their thoughts and notations which paved the way for more discussion, reflection and bonding within the group.

Additionally, an abbreviated version of the restorative writing class led by Carol was offered at the monthly teammate “Lunch and Learn,” where Forefront Living teammates gathered during their lunch break to participate and learn about the benefits of using writing to heal and find peace.
