Established in 1985 by Rabbi Maurice Lamm, NIJH educates hospice workers on Jewish practices for caring for terminally ill patients. The conference attracted professionals nationwide, including doctors, nurses, administrators, chaplains and social workers, offering insights into Jewish medical ethics, end-of-life care, consolation, bereavement and various Jewish customs. Attendees also explored strategies to prevent compassion fatigue and support caregivers. Marlene Casco, FPH Director of Quality Assurance Performance Improvement, Shelby London, Patient Care Manager and Ariel Perez, Nurse Practitioner, attended the conference to represent FPH. Following the conference, attendees returned to their hospices, disseminating knowledge and providing ongoing training to their staff.
