Finding Peace and Celebration: FPH’s Spring Memorial Event

Experiencing the loss of a loved one can be an immense challenge, leaving individuals grappling with overwhelming grief. At Faith Presbyterian Hospice (FPH), our team recognizes the importance of acknowledging this grief and honoring the memory of those who have passed. Through therapeutic means, we strive to guide individuals towards finding solace and celebrating the lives of their loved ones as they bid them metaphorical farewells.

On April 20, 2024 at 10AM and 2PM, FPH hosted its annual Spring Memorial event, drawing approximately 200 individuals to the serene surroundings of the T. Boone Pickens Hospice Center’s Spiritual Care Center, despite the stormy and rainy weather. Here, amidst messages of hope, prayers, songs and shared laughter, families came together for an indoor memorial service.

Following the service, attendees were offered a small box containing a butterfly, symbolizing transformation and renewal. They were encouraged to release these butterflies over the tranquil lake on the FPH campus, or on their own in a meaningful location to help foster a sense of closure and spiritual connection.

The event served as a platform for individuals to express their grief openly and to honor the unique qualities of their departed loved ones. For those unable to participate in traditional funeral services, the Spring Memorial provided a vital opportunity for closure and remembrance.

Our aim is not to bid farewell to our loved ones but to cherish their memory. Through events like the Spring Memorial, FPH seeks to support individuals in coping with their grief in a healthy manner, nurturing a spirit of honor and joyful remembrance.

If you or someone you know is seeking support in navigating the journey of grief, we invite you to explore the resources offered by FPH.
