Camp Erin DFW 2025: Where Grieving Hearts Find Light, Laughter and Love

Camp Buckner, nestled in the scenic hills of Central Texas, served as the perfect setting for Faith Presbyterian Hospice’s (FPH) fourth annual Camp Erin DFW, a free, weekend-long bereavement camp offered in conjunction with FPH’s Child and Family Bereavement Program. Held this year from June 20–22, the Camp Erin DFW experience was made possible through the generous support of the Forefront Living Foundation (FLF), which raised funds to cover the camp’s $30k cost.

Camp Erin DFW is specifically designed for youth and their families grieving the loss of a close loved one. Led by Tierney Titus, FPH Certified Child Life Specialist, the programming combines traditional camp activities with intentional grief support. As the only camp of its kind in Texas, Camp Erin DFW exemplifies the positive impact of community and compassionate care.

This year, 24 families participated in the experience. Under the guidance of trained bereavement professionals and volunteers, campers were provided with a supportive environment to process their grief, learn healthy coping skills and build friendships with peers facing similar challenges.

“It’s a mix of emotions, unique with each person. Certain things trigger different memories for everyone, but it’s all just heartfelt,” said Jan Patterson, a dedicated Camp Erin DFW volunteer for the past four years.

The success of Camp Erin DFW is made possible by the devotion of its team. This year, 26 teammates and volunteers worked tirelessly so each camper felt supported and valued. Families may have arrived with heavy hearts, but they left feeling lighter and comforted by a sense of community.

As Camp Erin DFW continues to grow, so does FPH’s commitment to grieving families. This special camp reminds us that through shared experiences and open hearts, healing is possible. Learn more about FPH’s Child and Family Bereavement Program here.
