Find Support at Faith Kids Post date April 14, 2025 On April 10, Faith Kids, a free monthly support group provided by Faith Presbyterian Hospice (FPH), for children ages 3 to 18, who have experienced the loss of a close loved one, gathered for its first session of 2025. The FPH team and volunteers welcomed 14 families and more than 40 participants for an evening focused on support and healing. The group was led by Tierney Titus, FPH Certified Child Life Specialist, and assisted by volunteers, including members of the Forefront Living Foundation. “When I began planning my first Faith Kids meeting, I knew it would be meaningful. But I was truly blown away by just how impactful it was, not only for the children and their families, but also for our teammates and volunteers,” shared Tierney. This month’s Faith Kids session focused on helping children and their family members understand the importance of honoring difficult feelings and learning healthy ways to care for themselves during emotional moments. Participants created Play-Doh “Feelings Volcanos” to explore how daily stressors can build up inside. These everyday stressors were represented by baking soda. The groups then added vinegar to show how a major life event, like a move, job change or loss, can cause an emotional eruption. The evening ended with a “Self-Care Sundaes” ice cream bar as families created sweet reminders of the importance of self-kindness with a delicious dessert – the cherry on top of a successful gathering. The next Faith Kids meeting is scheduled for May 8. For information about Faith Kids, please contact Tierney Titus at (214) 601-1233.
