Professionally, I am passionate about: Professionally, I am passionate about providing compassionate end-of-life care that prioritizes comfort, dignity and support for patients, their families/caregivers, and for the dedicated teammates caring for them. Through active listening, therapeutic reflection, words of comfort and encouragement, patients and their families/caregivers feel loved and cared for. Favorite memory/moment to date during your time at FPH: Most of my favorite moments are when patients or family members/caregivers asked questions like, “Do you think I will reunite with my loved ones after I die?” It shows their trust in me and opens up a chance for us to discuss the deeper concerns on their mind. I’m touched when patients share the life experiences for which they are most thankful. It always inspires me and encourages me to walk with them sincerely and respectfully. What do you think sets FPH apart from other hospice services? What sets FPH apart is our belief that “Each Moment Matters”, as we carry out a mission of comfort, compassion and love. This vision helps us provide professional and compassionate care. I am most proud of (this can be a personal or professional accomplishment): I am humbled that God keeps moving me to reach out to patients/families who are in need. In their tears and the moments that they feel loved, I believe I am witnessing God’s presence and the fulfillment of His promises. On the weekend, you can find me: On Saturday, you can find me spending time with my husband shopping, hiking local trails, eating and enjoying some musical events. On Sunday morning, we enjoy worshipping with others at church and fellowshipping with friends in the afternoon. My favorite foods/restaurants include: My favorite restaurants are Kura Sushi, Dumpling House and Bistro B. Favorite dish(es) to order: Chinese dumplings and whole grilled fish are my favorite dishes to order. In my free time, I enjoy (hobbies): I enjoy reading, painting-by-number, attending classical music concerts and traveling. Share about your family (significant other, siblings, parents, pets, etc. – anyone meaningful in your life, if you have children or pets – feel free to include names, ages/breeds, etc.): I was born and raised in Taiwan. I initially came to the States to pursue higher education and hopefully earn my Ph.D. in order to go back to Taiwan and teach. But God had a different plan for me, and I’ve been living here since 1991. Currently, my husband and I are empty nesters. When people ask me if I ever get homesick, I think of my caring husband and my extended church family here in Texas and it’s hard for me to think of life without them. How would your friends describe you in three words? My friends would describe me as: open-minded, caring and responsible. What’s something that people might be surprised to learn about you? People might be surprised to learn about the many countries and places that I have traveled to including Russia, Romania and Haiti. I even lived in Germany for a few years.
