What is a Child Life Specialist?

A Child Life Specialist is a trained professional who utilizes their knowledge of child development and age-appropriate therapeutic activities to educate, prepare and support children and family members when a loved one is on hospice. Child Life Specialists provide individualized care to children through play, self-expression activities and developmentally appropriate preparation and education.

How can Child Life Help?

Child Life can provide:

  • Assistance with developmentally appropriate language to use when talking to children about hospice and the death of a loved oneHelp disclosing the death of a loved one to a child
  • Help explaining funerals and cremation
